My name is Jeff Rudy and I am ever grateful to be a lucky husband to a wonderful wife, and a father to two beautiful children. My wife is a terrific writer and you’ll be more blessed to follow her blog than mine.
Vocationally, I am a pastor in the Memphis Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church. My current appointment is Lead Pastor at Ellendale UMC in Bartlett, Tennessee. I grew up in rural western Kentucky and moved to central Kentucky to attend college, where I met my wife, and seminary. I studied Bible & Theology at Asbury University (it was Asbury College at the time) and completed a theology degree at Asbury Theological Seminary. My studies in particular focused upon Wesleyan theology and the doctrine of the atonement, which led to my pursuit of a PhD in Wesley Studies at Nazarene Theological College in Manchester, England. Although that pursuit met a dead end in August of 2012, which you can read about here, what I gained in learning through the process far outweighs any time that some would perhaps consider wasted.
I had departed the candidacy and ordination process in the United Methodist Church during my master’s degree, but was drawn back to pastoral ministry through a host of circumstances, conversations, and tears in prayer. I am enjoying the life to which God has called me and I look forward to the days ahead.
Grace and peace to you!
